We’re glad you like the Printed Materials addition. We’ll be adding more in the future, but starting with those three designs.
Thanks for the suggestions, but just like there’s a character limit on VoiceMap’s titles, we need to keep the character limit and size on the posters and flyers consistent. Is there a reason you want to have a different size?
For the mini card, the summary is pulled in from your tour directly and while we’re open to suggestions when it comes to summaries, they’re ultimately at VoiceMap’s editorial team’s discretion.
Hi, it’s great to have the print materials automatically generated for each individual tour, but like Iren we’d like to be able to customise them a bit more. Would it be possible to provide an editable format to download (e.g. .psd) as well as the pdf, so that any tweaks could be made offline?
Hi Iren, it’s not meant to be the same title that appears on VoiceMap. When someone finds the tour on VoiceMap, they understand that it’s an audio tour. For posters and flyers, you want to cover the themes and be less poetic, and you want to say clearly that it’s an audio tour.
Additionally, if we make the font sizes customisable, we risk people trying to make titles and descriptions that are too long by making the fonts smaller and then the poster and flyer not looking properly weighted or well designed.
Yes, understood. I’m suggesting keeping the character limit (as it is now) but allowing font size variations just by a few points which should not effect the design.
I really like the new printed materials feature. One thing I noticed with the default poster is that the text is quite small , with a lot of unused space on the A4 page.
I created an alternative version using the same information, but with larger, more readable text and a different layout.
I showed both versions to five people without telling them which one I had made . All five chose the alternative.
With a little help from AI, it was also surprisingly easy to create. Just upload the PDF to ChatGPT and ask for a few alternative examples stating what you think could be improved.
I’ve uploaded both examples so you can compare them.
Thanks for sharing, @clive! Your design is nice, but it isn’t clear how to download the tour, and there’s a lot of negative space. There are a few tweaks I’d recommend besides those.
We worked with VoiceMap’s web and graphic designer to come up with different designs that meet multiple needs and convey all the necessary information in a way that’s visually pleasing and easy on the eye.
That said, if we see that a simpler design is needed, we’ll go back to the drawing board and take the ideas presented here to help shape what we design next.
Hi Alicia, we’ve now looked more carefully at the documentation, and see that a lot of the text is already customisable, which is great. Probably the main thing we’d like to do is translate the whole leaflet into Spanish, as we’re trying to do some local marketing for our Spanish-language tours. We have made our own leaflets, but they need updating with the new brand and logo, and ideally we would just adapt the new template you’ve created.
The other thing is the price in euros. We’ve brought this up before, but it isn’t a fixed value (and differs between the web and in-app prices), so we feel it’s best not to include it on a printed leaflet.
Hi Ben, that’s a valid concern and one we’ve considered. We’re keeping all the feedback we receive on these and will take it into consideration when we work on the next designs. My recommendation for the time being is pricing it slightly higher on the poster so people are happy when they see it’s slightly less rather than annoyed that the price is higher than advertised. @treksierranevada
Hi again! I’ve been creating posters/flyers, and, like I said before, great layout and design. Still have to insist that the summary on the Mini Card should be editable (just like the description). As for the titles, I’m sticking to my guns: there should be a way to fit the whole title. I went ahead and added a subtitle line for each of the flyers/posters with editing tools which is time consuming. Hope you’ll incorporate that option.
Hi @irengurarye, titles aren’t meant to be the same on posters as they are on VoiceMap. When someone finds a tour on VoiceMap, either on the app or through our website, they already know they’re browsing audio tours. Someone seeing a poster doesn’t know that. For posters, resellers, and affiliates, we always try to shorten the title slightly and make it less abstract than how it displays on VoiceMap.
Summaries are an editorial decision. If you want one changed, you can speak to your editor, but I can’t promise that it will be changed. They’re designed to work hand in hand with your title and description. We also need to make sure they’re not too repetitive tour to tour.
