Expedia has audio guides why not Voicemaps?

Hi all. I just noticed that Expedia are listing audio guides in my areas of Ronda and Cádiz so without looking I am assuming they have many more across the world on their things to do pages for locations…

Here is an example. https://www.expedia.es/things-to-do/cadiz-self-paced-walking-tour-with-audio-guide.a49349881.activity-details?

My question is, does Expedia draw from other sites like GYG and Viator for these guides or is it their own in house listings?

If its the latter then how do we go about getting VoiceMap Audi Guides on there? I am sure that its something that’s been looked into but just wondering as my sales plummeted when we lost GYG

Have a great day all!

Hi @clive

We’ve actually been in touch with them, and at the moment, they prefer pulling from Viator rather than having suppliers upload directly onto their site.

You had your best month in October 2024, which is after we lost our partnership with GetYourGuide. Last year, you had a strong April, May, September and October. That said, where we’re able to, we’re strengthening up partnerships with other resellers with continued growth as the ultimate aim.

Let me know if you have any questions!

Hi Alicia,

Thanks for the clarification, that makes sense.

I had assumed Expedia might be white-labelling or aggregating inventory, but I wasn’t entirely sure given the scale of the platform. That said, I’m curious why VoiceMap content isn’t being pulled into their destination pages, as it feels like a strong fit for self-paced audio tours within “Things to Do”.

On sales, I’m using the Ronda guide as a benchmark. Since the loss of GetYourGuide, performance has declined month on month, even after accounting for seasonality. So the impact has been fairly consistent rather than cyclical.

Have a great afternoon!

Hi Clive

They do pull VoiceMap inventory. It doesn’t seem to be all of our tours, and we don’t have control of which tours are pulled and which aren’t.

I did a quick analysis, and looking at the year after the GYG partnership ended, compared to the previous year when we still had the GYG partnership, your total downloads were up YoY.

We’re also regularly looking at how we can help increase revenue for publishers. Introducing the passes was one way, and strengthening partnerships with other resellers like Project Expedition and Musement is another. We’re also focusing on optimising Viator and its partner channels to increase revenue.

Keep well,

Alicia
