We’ve Been Loving Your In App Recordings. Let’s Make Them Even Better!

The audio team has really been enjoying the content coming through from your recordings using the app. The energy, the storytelling, and the authenticity have been fantastic to hear!

To help make the process even smoother, we’ve put together a set of simple tips to help you get the best possible sound from your home setup.

Follow these 10 guidelines to ensure the best possible audio quality:

1. Record in a blanket tent setup:
Create a small enclosed space (e.g., under a blanket draped over a table or in a closet filled with soft materials) to absorb reflections and reduce room echo.

2. Keep the microphone exposed:
Avoid covering the mic with your hands, blanket, or any other material. Clear mic exposure ensures clarity and presence.

3. Hold your phone in portrait mode:
This helps keep both the top and bottom edges (where the microphone and speaker are located) uncovered.

4. Remove the phone case:
Phone cases, even slim ones, can interfere with microphone performance or muffle sound.

5. Maintain proper distance:
Hold the device roughly 10 cm or 4 inch from your mouth - close enough to capture detail, but not so close that it causes distortion.

6. Angle the microphone toward your mouth:
Imagine you’re on a speakerphone call - you wouldn’t place the phone flat on a surface or point it away. Instead, angle it slightly toward your mouth so your voice hits the microphone directly.

7. Stay still while recording:
Avoid movement, which can introduce rustling, inconsistent volume, or handling noise. Sit comfortably and keep your posture stable.

8. Avoid background noise completely:
Record in a quiet environment - turn off fans, close windows, silence notifications, and wait for external noise (like traffic or pets) to pass.

9. Warm up and speak clearly:
Take a moment to relax and breathe before recording. Maintain a steady pace, articulate your words, and stay aware of tone and energy.

10. Listen back before submitting:
Always review your recordings using headphones to catch any audio issues, background noise, or phrasing that might need revision.
